Not sure why a dentist will need a CMS.
But if you publish content daily or at least few time a week, CMS is the technology of choice. It will provide a minimum amount of maintenance from the technical staff and have a fresh content regularly.
However, in order to get a maximum exposure, the CMS generated content shall be coupled with RSS in order to be published to its subscribers dynamically.

I agree with the statement above. Plenty of niche opportunities to band together. Interesting post with applications in multiple fields - Thanks

Yes, I agree, its important for most industries to keep up to date with how this technology can benefit them. We've been invovled in setting up this site, specifically for the dental profession - http://www.dentist-networks.com/ , its in the early stages, but I hope its a good start to allowing dentist to communicate in this way, and also promote themselves. Ian

It remains to be seen if niche social network sites can be succesful. There is no question that those that are aimed at the general population and at 20 or 30 somethings are wildly successful. But these are huge categories. I have seen somethings available for health care professionals, dentaltow etc.

I have to agree with you Mike. There are still some organizations that haven't yet expose to this great opportunity and missing chances to be known in the rest of the world. Creating a community online of a specific network helps organization acquires additional knowledge by means of sharing ideas and experiences.
